Our flagship initiative, Burn for Money (BfM), exemplifies this commitment. Established in 2018, BfM transforms our employees' fitness activities into cold, hard charitable donations.
It works by converting points for time spent doing an activity or kilometres travelled into real money. This year, our employees have swum, run, cycled, yoga'd, and pilates'd their way to a whopping 15,000 PLN.
Once our employees had caught their breaths, they chose where those donations went. Let's take a look at some of the causes our elbow grease went into helping this year:
Rak'n'Roll Foundation (Fundacja Rak’n’Roll): This foundation, which we supported twice this year, works tirelessly to improve the quality of life for cancer patients.
Saving Kids With Cancer Foundation (Fundacja Na Ratunek Dzieciom z Chorobą Nowotworową): Also twice receiving our support, this organisation provides comprehensive care for young cancer patients and their families.
Help in Time Foundation (Fundacja Zdążyć z Pomocą): This foundation was established in 1998 and focuses on saving and improving impoverished children's lives by restoring health, supporting their education, and giving welfare where needed.
Winged Dog Foundation (Fundację Skrzydlaty Pies): In 2023, we supported this organisation, which fights to improve the welfare of homeless and sick animals.
Synapsis Foundation (Fundacja Synapsis): We also supported the Synapsis Foundation, an organisation focused on aiding children and adults with Autism.
While the organisations mentioned above represent a large part of our efforts on BfM, they are just a part of the full support provided by our employees last year.
Combining fitness with charity didn't stop at BfM this year. It raced into another of our initiatives: Poland Business Run. This annual event raises money to aid individuals with mobility impairments through a sponsored team relay race.
This year, NoA was all in with not one, but two teams lacing up their running shoes. One team hit the pavement in Krakow, close to our head office, while the other took on a virtual track, representing NoA from all over the world.
As the year came to an end, our focus moved from the more energetic activities above to a more thoughtful form of giving. In the run-up to Christmas, we all pitched into our annual charity collection.
This year, we joined together with DomyDziecka.org, an organisation that connects volunteers with orphanages and foster care facilities throughout Poland, to provide support and resources for the well-being of disadvantaged children.
Our team came together to support a professional foster family name Zielone Wzgórza Nadziei. We assembled a package filled with essential items and thoughtful gifts and, just like Santa, delivered it to the family just in time for Christmas.
Looking back at our charitable activities for the year, we are confident that when we ask, "What good have we done this year?" we can be proud of the effort put in by all our employees. Our collective actions have had a real impact on the lives of those less fortunate than ourselves.
Our goal for this article is not just to summarise a list of our 'do-gooding' but to raise awareness of the charities close to our hearts. We encourage you, the reader, to consider how you could help those in need. Whether you set up a fixed monthly payment to a charity, suggest a charity run at your workplace, or initiate a joint employee assistance program, every effort counts.
Let's end the year on a high but promise to do even more next year. What good will we do next year? Stay tuned to find out!
